YUKIKO SHINOZAKI: JAPANESE DANCER/CHOREOGRAPHER
Educated in classical and modern dance in Tokyo and Oregon, lives in Belgium where she worked in dance companies within the field of contemporary dance, alongside Meg Stuart and Heine Røsdal Avdal. A well-established choreographer, internationally known for her subtle and intimate expression. For 4x4 her performances are small experiments in different spaces.

PETTER ALEXANDER GOLDSTINE: AMERICAN-NORWEGIAN PERFORMANCE ARTIST/PHOTOGRAPHER
Petter Alexander Goldstine has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Washington and he got his education as an actor at Nordic Black Express in Oslo. He has had several performances at Black Box Teater in Oslo. His indoor and outdoors performances raise questions about the relation between actor, audience and the outside world. For 4x4 he wishes to share his personal experience of Tromsø’s nature with the audience.

KRISTIN ERIKSEN BJØRN: NORWEGIAN THEATRE DIRECTOR/PLAYWRIGHT
Kristin Eriksen Bjørn has gained great recognition within the Norwegian performing arts community in the independent scene with Totalteatret and Ferske Scener. She has experience as actress, director, dramaturge and playwright. Her last production was as the director of ”Ashes to Ashes” by Harold Pinter, shown in Tromsø and in Oslo, at Nationaltheatret. For 4x4 she creates a ”textual room”, and invites us all to her installation on the topic of surrendering: ”Did I forget my legs at your place?”

LAWRENCE MALSTAF: BELGIAN VISUAL ARTIST
Lawrence Malstaf is educated as industrial designer. He works as a visual artist, develops machines and works with installations relation to visions and rooms. Malstaf collaborates with choreographers and creates multi-disciplinary performances. In Tromsø he is best known from ”Sauna in Exile”, a part of Nordlysfestivalen 2003. For 4x4 he will edition a prototype of his new work: spinning tops in rotation and relation to eachother and the audience.

PER HENRIK SVALASTOG: NORWEGIAN VISUAL ARTIST/ARCHITECT
Per Henrik Svalastog is an architect, musician and member of the internationally known performance group Baktruppen. Svalastog examines musical conventions through his work. For 4x4 his musical installation converts from electronic music to folk music. When customising the heirloom of his grandfather, the string instrument "harpeleik", his keywords are quality, richness and delicacy of sound.

ELS VAN RIEL: BELGIAN VISUAL ARTIST
Educated as film photographer, Els van Riel uses core elements of film as time, space and non-narrative pictures in her installations. For 4x4 she will use five 16 mm projectors adding dimensions to film as a media in relation to her audience.

JON LØVØEN: NORWEGIAN VISUAL ARTIST
Jon Løvøen studied at the Academy of art in Bergen. He created realistic artificial worlds, where the audience is trapped in a paradox, and gets in touch with their own dual role as participant as well as audience. For 4x4 he enters the scene of New York’s nightclubs in the 70-ties, where experiments had no boundaries or rules.

NUNO REBELO: PORTUGESE MUSICIAN/COMPOSER
Rebelo gained a reputation in many genres through his work as a guitarist, composer and musician. He composes and performs works for concerts, theatre and events. For 4x4 he will perform and create an installation, exploring mechanics and what’s necessary to make music.

GAUTE BARLINDHAUG: NORWEGIAN COMPOSER
Lecturer in media arts at University of Tromsø, administrator for the art symposium ArcArt 04. Composer of music for several films and has done musical programming for Anneli Drecker. He has released electronic music under his independent label Kolar Goi. For 4x4 he invites audience to participate in the creative process of composing, in an interactive installation.

ANJA KOWALSKI: BELGIAN SINGER/COMPOSER
Educated as jazz singer and guitarist as well as in improvisation, Anja Kowalski uses her voice as rhythmic instrument. She works within a broad spectre of repertoire: from jazz to world music, theatrical- and contemporary music. For 4x4 she wishes to experiment on how the situation of a performance influences the relation of music and audience.
